The add to grid option already has the small plus sign at the top of the window. I therefore think that the big plus sign can be removed. The drop bar icon can be made into a small 'drop bar' icon next to the small plus sign. Or ban these options to the preferences or make an option ( in the preferences) to hide the first row.
